Friday Night & Saturday Morning Shabbat Services

Friday Night Shabbat & Shabbat Torah Services

Services are led by Rabbi Meeka Simerly or one of our lay leaders. Music is led either by the Temple Adas Shalom Choir or one of several soloists. We are a “sing-along” congregation, where all congregants are invited to participate in all of the prayer-songs. Musical instrumentation, when present, is usually piano or guitar; however, we have utilized a wide variety of music for special occasions.

Our prayer book is Mishkan T’filah, published by the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ).

On the Friday evenings that include a Torah service, a reading from the Parashat of the week and in depth discussion is held. The Torah is typically chanted by one of our lay leaders.

A dessert ONEG follows our service inside our Social Hall.

Saturday Morning B'nai Mitzvah Services

How empowering to watch a young person lead our community in prayers and ritual! How exciting to listen to a teen chant Hebrew and understand what s/he’s saying. How inspiring to listen to fresh, meaningful interpretations of Torah through the lens of Jewish values, history, and culture!

This age-old rite of passage is always personally relevant and meaningful at Temple Adas Shalom, and you are welcome to join any Friday night for a Shabbat service and again for a Torah service on Saturday morning or afternoon as our teens become B’nai Mitzvah!
